Orphaned children have very little clothing and food and little to no hope of access to education or medical services. Their life expectancy is also very low as those around them struggle to have enough resources to keep themselves alive and are unable to look after these children. In African culture the husband is considered the main bread winner and is responsible for the income and well being of the entire family unit. As famine, poverty, militants and civil warring continues to ravage South Sudan, many of the men are killed, murdered or die from illness. With no access to social services or welfare, this leaves the widows and their children in extremely dire straits and many do not survive.
